Projects, workspaces & navigation
Every project has four workspaces; tools open as tabs; the command palette reaches everything from the keyboard.
Four workspaces per project
| Workspace | Shortcut | What it is |
|---|---|---|
| AI | ⌘1 | Full-window assistant, and what it changed |
| Code | ⌘2 | Files, editor, run and debug, terminal, side AI |
| Docs | ⌘3 | The project's Markdown as a linked knowledge base |
| Git | ⌘4 | Merge requests, review, history, blame, git tools |
Each workspace resumes where you left it. The toolbar shows only the active workspace's actions: Run, Test and Terminal in Code; branch and Sync in Git.
Tabs, rail and split view
- Tabs or rail. Settings › Appearance › Layout: project tabs on top, or a rail on the left. "Tabs kept ready" keeps up to eight background projects live, so switching is instant and keeps scroll, editor and terminal.
- Split view. ⌘\ joins another project with the current one: two or three projects side by side, each with its own files, terminal and workspace. Groups get a colour and stay alive while hidden. Tools such as Terminal, Database or Beequest can sit in a split too.
- Tool tabs. Terminal, Processes, SSH, Vault, Logs, Beequest, Database, Network, Explain and Files open as their own tabs. Esc, ⌥← or ⌘[ goes back to where you came from.
Command palette
One overlay with four modes; Tab switches between them.
| Keys | Mode |
|---|---|
| ⌘K | Projects & tools — open tabs, recent projects, tools, new Beework task |
| ⌘P | Go to file in any known project; path:42 jumps to a line |
| ⇧⌘B | Branches — switch, or create one from the current branch |
| ⇧⌘P | Commands — every git tool, workspace, page and setting |
Home
Home (toolbar) shows what needs you across every project: merge requests waiting for your review, your own merge requests and what blocks them, each working copy's uncommitted, unpushed and unpulled changes, and agent work in flight. ⇧⌘R syncs every repository (fetch, and fast-forward only when safe).
Status bar and errors
Every screen has a short ID in the status bar (for example GIT-REV/LINE). Errors carry a stable code such as E-PUSH-REJECTED and a Copy report link — quote both when you ask for help.
