Get started

Install & first launch

Download the disk image, allow the beta once in System Settings, then connect your AI and your Git host.

Requirements

  • macOS 12 or later, Apple Silicon or Intel (one universal app).
  • git installed (Xcode Command Line Tools or Homebrew).
  • For AI features: Claude Code signed in, or another AI provider.

Install

  1. Download the .dmg from beetool.dev/app.
  2. Open it and drag Beetool into Applications.
  3. Open Beetool. The beta is not notarized by Apple yet, so macOS blocks the first launch: open System Settings › Privacy & Security, scroll to Security and click Open Anyway next to Beetool. On macOS 14 and earlier you can also Control-click the app and choose Open.

You allow it once; it opens normally afterwards. To update, download the new version and replace the app — projects and settings stay.

First steps

  1. Open a project. ⌘O picks a folder; Clone from URL… clones with your system git, so SSH keys and credential helpers work as in the terminal. A folder without git opens too.
  2. Connect your AI. Settings › AI providers. The built-in Claude and Codex entries use your existing CLI sign-in; add API keys or local models there.
  3. Connect GitLab or GitHub (only for merge requests). Settings › Git › Forge tokens. Tokens are stored in the macOS Keychain.

Licence

The beta is free. Internally, a 14-day trial with all features runs on first launch; after it, reviewing merge requests needs a key (Settings › License, verified offline). Local review, history and everything else keep working.
